Having your meet packet here is good. But it is even better if you include your meet setup file. To create a meet setup file, first set up your meet in Hy-Tek Meet Manager. Then export the set up to a .zip file (see instructions below). The advantage of doing this is that coaches can download your meet setup file, import it into Team Manager, and easily enter their swimmers in the right events for your meet. You will avoid all those annoying entry errors caused when coaches have to manually enter all your event numbers and event descriptions so they can enter your meet.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CREATING SETUP FILES
In the Windows versions of Meet Manager choose File / Export / Events for TM.
SUGGESTIONS FOR SETTING UP YOUR MEET
Exercise care with your age grouping when you set up your meet and you
will avoid meet entry errors. For example suppose you will offer three 500
yard free events for each gender. The following set up MAY BE WRONG:
|
Girls Event # |
Age Group |
Event |
Boys Event # |
|
1 |
11-12 |
500 Free |
2 |
|
3 |
13-14 |
500 Free |
4 |
|
5 |
Open |
500 Free |
6 |
If you really intend to enforce age grouping, then events 5-6 should really be set up as 15 and over events. Reserve the "Open" designation for those events (for example the 1650) for which there be only one event for each gender so that they are truly open to all age groups. Second, unless you intend to forbid a 10 year old from swimming the 500, events 1-2 should be set up as 12 and under events. Thus is it likely that for most meets a better meet set up would be:
|
Girls Event # |
Age Group |
Event |
Boys Event # |
|
1 |
12-Under |
500 Free |
2 |
|
3 |
13-14 |
500 Free |
4 |
|
5 |
15-Over |
500 Free |
